Introducing our new coaching partner KANO (Japanese for "possible"). Through our new partnership, we want every child (and parent) to feel that they can hit "their" potential. Together with KANO, we want everyone to know what's possible for the young child as an individual. How can we inspire them to reach for more, to be the best version of themselves?

A Club Like No Other

 Dear Players, Parents and Carers

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Season 2021 at Pennant Hills Football Club, A Club Like No Other, one of the most successful clubs and Premier League teams in the history of our local football association.

We are a proud Club, with a fantastic footballing philosophy of sportsmanship and fun, regularly featuring at the top of our local associations’ annual best and fairest, including our women’s teams taking out our Association’s best and fairest award in successive years.

 2021 Season

2020 was a peculiar season, one that very nearly didn’t occur with the on-set of Covid-19.  Fortunately, we were able to get going in July and completed a full premiership season, with first & second playing off a grand-final, from which we had several winners and a pretty successful season on the football field, particularly at our junior levels, building on our progress over the past few seasons.

Possibly more important than football success in 2020 was the success in bringing our community back together again after the enforced Covid lockdown of early 2020.  Throughout the season, the role that we as a football club played in helping bring our community back together, offering some release from day-to-day pressures and bringing friends and families together in a sporting environment, in the fresh air, was most evident.

It now seems that 2021 will see similar challenges for our community, but hopefully, the lessons learnt from early 2020 will enable us to have a more normal 2021 season.  To do so, we will all need to be mindful of government health advice and continue to act in a Covid-safe manner.

All going well, the 2021 season is scheduled to commence on the weekend of 17 April (a slightly later start due to Easter and school holidays), with the Premier League competition starting on 10 April.

In 2020, we fielded more than 40 mixed Saturday teams, including Juniors, All-Age, O35 and O45, together with a new O30s women’s team to complement our junior girls’ team.

Over the next few years, the football community will be very much focused on promoting the women's game, with Australia confirmed as the next host of the women's World Cup in 2023.  For a long time, O35s men were the fastest-growing segment of Australian sport, now it is women’s sport and women and girls’ football in particular.

Penno FC would love to play its part in encouraging greater female participation, and with the success of our summer football competition, hopefully, those of you already involved in playing with Penno teams can encourage your friends to come and join us in 2021.

Girls (from U6s) can play in either the mixed competition (Saturday) or the women’s competition (Sunday). Prospective female players who are not sure whether a female team will be formed in their age group should contact our women’s football delegate, Chris Matthews on 0448 803377.

Life Membership - Gladesville Hornsby Football Association (GHFA) - Grahame Bateman
In a fitting end to an era, following the merger of GHFA with North West Sydney Women’s Football Association (“NWSWFA”), Grahame Bateman (“GB”) was awarded life membership of GHFA in recognition of his contribution to all things Penno FC, the greater GHFA and NWSWFA and our broader Pennant Hills community.
Peter Quessy spoke on behalf of Penno FC as the nominator at last night’s Final GHFA, thanking GHFA and those involved for their service to our football community, as well as highlighting GB’s many achievements.
Below is a summary of GB’s involvement, contribution and achievements.

  • Joined Penno FC committee 1998, as Vice President to date

Apart from the above, GB has spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours, behind the scenes working on numerous projects to enhance and improve both Penno FC and the greater Football community.
He has always ensured Penno FC and its members come first, yet at the same time has always made himself available to other clubs pursuing facilities upgrades.
Penno FC and the Football community are all in a better place having had GB in their corner.
I am sure that you will all agree that Grahame is a most worthy recipient of GHFA Life membership, particularly as we transition from GHFA to NWSF.
When you next see Grahame, please congratulate him on receiving this prestigious recognition within our broader footballing community.
Yours in football
Tony Macko
President
Life Membership - Tim House
7 Sep 19 - Life membership - Tim House
At our 2019 Presentation Day, on 7 September, we announced the award of new life membership.
Our newest life-member arrived in Pennant Hills in 2003; and is another example of one of our Penno Juniors that may always have seemed destined for our Premier League squad, first playing for Premier League in 2005.
He first played for Penno in the U10-3s in 2004.  By his mid-late teens, he was playing Division 1 football and would soon capture the attention of Premier League, as a fleet-footed left-back with blistering pace.
He is a committed Christian and was leading his Church’s Beach Mission on the South Coast last Christmas when on the first day while surfing, he broke a number of vertebrae.
Last week, he came home from rehab after his family home in Pennant Hills was converted to accommodate his needs.
We were extremely delighted, and I know that he was too, that he was able to join us at our recent Back to Penno Day and toss the coin for the First-Grade game.  It was a small step, but an important step of returning to his and our community.
As a Club Like No Other – we wanted to do something to ensure that he remains a strong part of our football community.  Conferring Life-Membership is a small thing that we can do to ensure that he remains a part of our Club well into the future.
Please join me in congratulating Tim House on becoming the newest life-member of Pennant Hills Football Club.
If you see Tim around, please stop and say hello.
Thank-you.

Tony Macko    President - Pennant Hills FC
